think about it. [Mar. 10th, 2009|06:44 pm]

How does wolverine bend his wrists? every version of him always has blades longer than his hand, this means that they would have to extend past his wrist when inside making it impossible for him to bend his wrists.

The new watchmen ending [Mar. 6th, 2009|10:03 pm]
below is the description of the new watchmen ending, don't read it if you don't want to.

instead of a giant squid Ozymandias duplicates Jon's accident/powers in several dead scientist and uses them to destroy several points around the world (NY, LA, Moscow, ETC.) killing 15million. Jon is blamed and hated and the superpowers decide to work together in Peace rather than receive his wrath again.

This ending is better. first the original ending only affects New York, and quite frankly that means that the Russians would have either blamed it on the American way of life and say it would never happen to them or say that the invaders have no interest with Russia. Second Ozy only has one giant squid, eventually afters years of sitting quietly waiting for the invasion the superpowers would realize that the invaders are never coming and they've been had, with each side blaming the other and being back where they were, quite simply the giant squid wouldn't have worked. however everyone has known about Jon for years, they've seen him be less and less human, cause cancer and heard his "same number of particles speech" this builds him up to be someone who doesn't care who causes the problem he's just there to end/prevent it. Instead of a threat they  eventually realize is fake they have an omnipotent being watching over them ready to slap their hand again.

Now a lot of people are going to whine about the changed ending simply because they changed it but quite frankly the cause of the incident is only a small part of the ending, and it is in fact the smallest part of the ending. You still have the confrontation with Ozy, the 35 minutes line, Jon and Jupiter standing in the middle of the carnage, the horrible truth that only silence will save the world and then the death of Rorshak.

Quite frankly the fact that it is Jon instead of a giant squid is minor.

I just wished I hadn't guessed the new ending before ever seeing the movie.

Because I feel like it. [Dec. 18th, 2008|04:38 pm]
A while ago I managed to copy a rather large anime collection from a friend, I didn't even get half his stuff but I still have about 50 different series. The thing is I haven't even watched most of these but now I have a small vacation and am going to go through them. I figure I may as well review them. This collection is pretty random as I just copied what was there.
I will not be watching the anime all of the way through if I don't like, in fact I'll say how far I got before I lost interest.

First Series:

Hand Maid May:

apparently the story is about this boy who accidently orders a small robot maid that he can't afford. I lost interest after 7 minutes. the premise sounded uninteresting to me and actually kind of dumb but you can be surprised what will get your interest so I thought I'd give it a try.

First we are introduced to nerdy boy who stares at this one girl's breasts and is in school and is apparently trying to make a squid robot. This girl sneaks in through his window in his apartment (ground floor) talks about how the neighbour next door has not paid rent during the convsertation, so I am to assume that this 16yo at best is a landlord and enters other people's apartment without their knowledge even if they are home.

Next at school we meet the nerdy boy's rival for all of the cool invention contests and he is shown that during every conversation to be trying to do some seizure like dance routine during normal conversations and is very annoying, check wikipedia yup he's a main character. Goodbye I'm done, you've managed to produce nothing to keep my interest so far and then introduce a very annoying main character.

Dear Microsoft [Sep. 5th, 2008|12:37 pm]
Fuck you. No seriously fuck you.
I have in the past stood up for you I like xp, Ms Office 07 is actually a really good program when you get used to the interface and the fact I can write my own ribbons in XML is cool. Visual studio is an amazing tool for programming and works really well. Now before I describe the issue let me just explain something, through my school we are given free microsoft programs to be able to do our assignments and even windows licences. The site they set for this used to be just a straight download and it would download pretty quick and it was fine.  Then MS switched over to using a special download program basically you download an exe file, run it and then it connects to microsoft and downloads the cd image it takes forever to download and is pointless because you can just copy an paste the image from the temporary folder to your desktop. So anyways after spending hours downloading my legal licence of visual studio and wondering when the fuck it was going to finish I start to install it and run through the whole install and when it finishes it asks me if I want to install the MSDN library. The msdn library is a separate optional reference library that for the 2005 version of Visual Studio was a separate download and is actually larger than visual studio itself. So basically the reason it took so long to download is because they included something that is completely optional and is at least half the download, instead of packaging it separately they had to go and pull this crap. This wouldn't even matter for a normal download because it would have been a lot faster but once again people who buy things legally get punished so that is why right now I say :
FUCK YOU!

me versus vista day 2 [Sep. 2nd, 2008|06:20 pm]
Spoke to a case manager who outright said their policy is no on the refunds and I am welcome to return the laptop for a refund but that's it.

I honestly thought this would take longer but at least they were straight forward with me. This will hopefully save someone some time in the future.

HP and Compaq will not give a refund on the OS.

Me versus Vista day 1. [Aug. 30th, 2008|11:14 pm]
I've been needing an upgrade for a little while and thanks to my school I have xp pro licenses so I was thinking of getting a new laptop. I recently read this: http://gizmodo.com/5027302/how-to-get-refunded-on-prepackaged-vista
So I bought a compaq laptop on sale today and checked the EULA and it does say to contact the manufacturer for a refund so I am going to leave my laptop as is for now (not formatting or accepting the license agreement yet) and contact compaq/hp.

So I am going to blog how long it takes me to help give an idea of other people who don't want the New Coke of operating systems. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Coke

Written while waiting

Just bought a laptop and am currently calling compaq to see if they will refund me for vista.
Sales person directs me to tech support, transfer.
Iam currently on hold with someone who is checking with their supervisor.

6:44

Tech support guy checked with supervisor and says that this department is not able to give refunds. Reiterated that I was directed here by sales person.
Have asked to speak to a supervisor and am currently waiting for a response.

6:47

Did not get me a supervisor but is writing me a report to forward a case manager and will get me the direct number.
7:06

So now I wait up to 48 hours for a case manager to contact me and will blog the next part when it happens.

Thank You [Aug. 21st, 2008|09:29 pm]

Thank You Warner Brothers.
Thank You Christian Bale.
Thank You Christopher Nolan.
Thank You anyone involved in making the Dark Knight.

I've seen your movie twice since it came out and both times it was wonderful. I will buy the DVD when it comes out because this is worth owning. Thank you for making such a good movie and for following the characters so truly. Thank you for not having Batman kill the joker this time, and most important of all thank you for handing the MPAA its ass.

Thank you for showing that what they are saying about downloading is wrong. This movie proves it. I am not disputing legality or morality I am talking about how they say the lose money every day because people download movies and that it is hurting the industry. Well the fact that The Dark Knight has reached the No. 2 slot on highest grossing films of all time and will almost definitely top 500,000,000 in monetary gain and it is still possible for it to top Titanic (long shot I know) proves that the best way for you to make money, the best way for you to get people into theatres and away from the computer screen is to, and pay attention now, is to stop making shitty movies and start making good ones. This movie is doing well for 3 reasons first it’s Batman, second It’s good and third thanks to the first movie people have reason to expect it to be good.

So next time you make a movie remember Dark Knight and instead of making a movie that marketing people write for you or another in a long line of stupid movies (Epic movie, Scary Movie, anything American Pie related) let a qualified writer and decent actors be things that sell your movie and it should do well.

From someone who downloads but will still pay money for things worth seeing.
